Why using an orientation consultant?

I came across a job ad on Facebook in 2020 when the COVID-19 pandemic had just started. The company was looking for an expat who spoke Cantonese and didn't have full-time employment with other organizations. I met the requirements and applied for the job. After being called in for an interview, I got hired as an orientation consultant. I completed all the necessary training and served more than 20 clients. The assignments were fulfilling, and I felt a sense of accomplishment. The recognition and appreciation from both the company and clients were satisfying, which led me to decide to become an orientation consultant in Shanghai.

The pandemic has been challenging for many, especially for expats in China. Travel restrictions and long quarantine periods have caused difficulties for many expats who have had to leave Shanghai or China. However, I realized that even if some expats left, there would always be newcomers coming. During these challenging times, the confusion and uncertainty caused by the COVID-19 pandemic have made it even more difficult for expats, especially newcomers, to navigate the new rules and regulations. Therefore, I believe that my service is even more valuable in bringing peace and ease to foreigners who have just arrived in Shanghai.

Looking back 12 years ago when I first arrived in Shanghai, I wished I had someone like me to help me deal with all the confusion and frustration. Even though I could speak the language, I still found myself in difficult situations. Now, I want to use my accumulated knowledge and experience to help other newcomers to this amazing city of Shanghai. I hope my service can make a positive difference in their journey. At the same time, I also want to build connections with like-minded expatriates from different backgrounds.
